Our Day 1 consisted of setting up a stage for a 'Battle of the Bands' show. We worked with a chap named 'Matty' who enjoyed talking to himself. Matty showed us the sound and lighting board, and attempted to teach us about different microphone types. I can't remember any of it.
Mainly, we set up the microphones, amps and the drum kit.
I had to ask a bajillion questions like 'Where does this Mic go?', 'Why do we need amps facing the stage', and 'I know you just told me but where does this mic go again?' (It went on the snare drum!).
We learnt how to set up different stands, including microphone stands, bass drum stands and snare drum stands.
We also learnt where to plug in some cables and where they are kept.
I enjoyed the lack of moving chairs, which is all anyone else is talking (and complaining) about. Though later, people from Trades came down to visit and we didn't have enough chairs for them to sit on. I wonder how this will work?
